Both of these models of the 1963 Corvette are nice early 90's presentations from Ertl. The Tuxedo Black version sports finned aluminum wheels and the 360 hp L-84 327 with fuel injection. The paint quality is good and the black sets off the chrome work around the famous split window. It also features the chrome hood vents in good detail. The interior is fair (seats do not move and are plastic), and the dash is good; inside door panels are good along with the chrome console. The engine is good but lacks wiring. Doors open along with the hood (obviously) and has steering. Wheels are well done and the under carriage is pleasant. The over-all look is very good. I had a 1:1 and Ertl did a good job in the reproduction and design department. The authentic Riverside Red version is the same except that it features the 340 hp L-76 327 with the four barrel carburetor and wheel covers (hubcaps)instead of the finned aluminum wheels. Both cars have red interiors. If you like 1/18 Corvettes, these two beauties are a must. Considering price and quality, I gave them four stars. (06/12/2000) (06/12/2000) |
