This is the third Exoto/Standox issue. It repeats their eighth consecutive "Exclusive Line" shade, Daytona Paradise in Standox's color tribute to the legendary Daytona racetrack. The first Exoto/Standox car was the appropriately painted Shelby Daytona Cobra in Daytona Paradise. The second issue was the Imola Ice Corvette Grand Sport Coupe. Although I personally lean closer to the Imola Ice paint for the Grand Sport as my favorite to date, I have to say this is the most glamorous and exciting color combination so far. Like a precious gem, the color is absolutely a knock-out! Changing light alters the gold-based metallic luster from a deep pearlescent emerald green to a rich Caribbean Ocean blue. Silver wheels and outside exhausts perfectly accent the deep, smooth paint. It replicates the hood from the original prototype car and all other features are present. Since Exoto agreed to do this as a special run for Standox, the European paint firm, it is produced in limited numbers. It may be more difficult to locate but well worth the effort.
The headline story on this model is extraordinary and exclusively inside. A total deviation from the other Grand Sport models, the entire interior is executed in saddle! Dash, roof, roll cage, rear shelf, steering column and seats are saddle. Seat belts are color-keyed in tan fabric and the seat inserts are tan as well. Contrasting the dark exterior paint, this combination is exquisite. Obviously, this is not a depiction of the historic Grand Sport series but if you love one of a kind automobiles, this image is dynamic and breathtakingly beautiful. (06/22/2000)
