New Zealander Bruce McLaren created the real car. It was built for the 1968 Can-Am racing series. The frame was an all-new monocoque design and an awesome; aluminum Chevy 427 powered the cars down the track. GMP has recreated this little beauty to a "tee". The rear section can be removed to reveal a detailed Chevy big block. The engine is even wired. The bright orange exterior grabs you and the delicate tampo printing is correctly scaled. It's nice to see that scale was preserved, as many manufacturers tend to enlarge tampos. This practice not only detracts from a model's appearance, but also makes a model appear toy-like. The interior is nicely detailed in this scale, as well. Tires have tampo "Goodyear" logos. The windshield is even tinted blue. One car in a series of Can Am Racers released by GMP in this scale. A real treat and like potato chips, you can't just have one! (03/29/2002) |
