426 HEMI Powered Extended Wheelbase Dragster!
After early track successes, Garlits modified and stretched his rail car wheelbase by 25"... and offered a challenge to his rival Don "The Snake" Prudhomme. They met at Half Moon Bay Dragstrip.... everyone expected The Snake to teach Big Daddy a thing or two... even the trophy had Prudhomme's name engraved on it! But the Swamp Rat VIII was TOO MUCH for the Snake, and Garlits took home the hardware!- Plumbed & Wired 426 Hemi Powerplant
