The latest GMP in the Buick Regal Turbo series is the 1987 Turbo T in Metallic Gray. One of the more popular Regal's, there were subtleties that set this 1987 off from the previous models. By 1987, the "T-Type" badging was replaced by a simple "T" on the rear of the front fender. With the "3.8 SFI Turbo" on the hood bulge and upper trunk lid, this package was designated as the Turbo T. "Regal" appears on the rear quarter panel and the grille gets a black-out treatment for 1987, altered from previous year's chrome and black applications. The standard engine for the Turbo T was a LC2 package. This engine was now familiar to other Grand National cars. The horsepower was rated at 245 hp but may have been closer to 275. GMP's Buick is true to all of the nuances of the 1987 version of the 1:1 T. The badging is crisp and clear and the gray paint with light gray interior seems to set it off from the rest of the series, very nicely. The engine detail continues to be excellent in its class. Wheel and tire details really stand out as do the chassis components. Part fabrication and accurate multi-shades of paint make sure of it. Price and limited supplies of 3882 units make this a good value. If you like the Buick series or just this car in particular, you won't be disappointed. (05/01/2001) |
