Let's get some perspective on 1972. That's when there was a break-in at Democratic HQ in Watergate Towers, "Ms" magazine debuts, and M*A*S*H premieres on CBS. Atari introduces the first video game, Pong, in the same year as the CD is invented. Yes, in 1972. Get this, email was first introduced in 1972! The world turned in 1972. For car aficionados, 1972 marked the last act of what was arguably the most brilliant legend in all American car culture. 1972 saw the GTO revert back to an option on the LeMans and Lemans Sport. The world was about to turn its back on the unbridled freedom of the sixties, and that included its most awesome muscle car. GMP has decided to model this last hurrah of the grand GTO with unerring accuracy. While some of the power had been bled from this GTO, it's as if the designers had not received the memo. The 1972 GTO is still a magnificent looking steed. And GMP has gone about modeling it with all the respect and devotion it deserves. Yes, it's the final raised fist of the GTO, but it's a thing of beauty. GMP gives you the exact stance of the original car, the exact gold color, the defiant attitude in the face of all that was 1972. Specs: 455 cu. in., 335 hp, Ram Air V-8, cast-iron block and heads, 4.15 in. bore x 4.21 in stroke, air-intake scoops on hood, single 4bbl Rochester carburetor, turbo 400 hydra-matic automatic transmission, G60x14 Polyglas steel belted wide tread tires, honeycomb 14” in x 7” wheels, double wishbone front suspension with coil springs, revalved shocks and anti-roll bar, front disk brakes and drum rear and free flowing dual exhausts.
