1966 was the first year of the entertainment juggernaut we know and love as Star Trek. “To boldly go where no man has gone before.” This spirit may have inspired Ford that year to finally make factory cars to cater to the performance junkie. New for 1966 was the introduction of the GT and GTA packages. For the first time the Fairlane was designed to fit Ford’s FE big block V8s. GTs came with 390 cid V8s as standard, the GTA added the Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. This 335 bhp powerplant featured a hot cam, special manifolds, and a four-barrel carb. The packages were available on the 500/XL line. They included special badges, body striping, engine dress-up parts, heavy duty suspension, disc brakes, bucket seats, and a sport steering wheel. GMP has chosen to model the ’66 Fairlane GTA in raven black with red stripes. And it’s here for you in 1:18 super-realism. Cranking windows, sliding seats, elevating antenna, real metal leaf springs, even a removable air cleaner! Limited edition of only 2,750. If into sixties muscle, be one of the lucky ones. When people call a car "sharp" -- they're thinking of this model. (05/30/2004) |
