This might be as good as it gets in detail-laden 1/43rd scale. The front 'trunk' hatch removes revealing the spare tire and metal air-ducting tubes. Moving rearward we see the clear air foil perched in front of the single wiper, photoetched and anodized black. The doors swing out to disclose the racer's business-like environment. Excellent attention to detail was obviously given there. Next comes the power plant that the GT-40 found fame with. Surprisingly, wiring is not included but let the suspension erase that fault in stunning fashion. As each side of the axle articulates, the spring compresses over the shock. Engine detail is grand. A photoetched panel over the engine bay allows exhaust heat to escape. The paint scheme is exciting. Painted in Gulf livery, blue and orange, the model shouts accuracy. Each sponsorship is tampo'ed on flawlessly. The model 'sits' correctly, is proportioned right and is an absolute delight to behold. (02/10/2000)
