Styling for the 1968 Firebird was barely changed from the previous model year. Perhaps the most notable change was the deletion of the side vent windows, which gave way to the new concept of "Astro Ventilation." Other significant differences involved new, wraparound turn signals underneath the front bumper, and multi-leaf rear springs with shock absorbers mounted in a staggered position (one behind the axle and the other in front) to combat spring wrap under hard acceleration. The standard Firebird 400, as replicated here, included other standard features such as chrome air cleaner, chrome valve covers, dual exhausts, dual hood scoops, and special badges on the front bumper and rear trunk lid.
