Mattel Legends 1:24 1970 Plymouth Duster- Tom "Mongoose" McEwen Funny Car diecast car

Tom "the Mongoose" McEwen's 1970 Plymouth Duster funny car has been replicated as the fourth car in the Mattel's 1/24 Legends series. The car, like its virtual twin, Don "the Snake" Prudhomme's Plymouth, was built specifically for a series of one-on-one match races sponsored by the toy manufacturer. The two cars raced only twice, and then were retired.

This nicely crafted diecast is replete with small details that make it a great display piece. Wiring, engine plumbing, fuel lines, lift body, wheelie bars, dual rear parachutes, chrome-plated fuel and water tanks, coil-over shocks, accurate treads on the front tires and wide slicks in the rear, it all is there.

As with the Snake, the Mongoose is accompanied by a 1/64 mini-version not available to the HW collector except in this set. Each 1/24 replica is individually numbered and comes with title papers and a brochure describing McEwen and the history of this funny car. The set sells for $129.00 + S&H. It is not available through the Mattel website, but may be obtained from one of the Mattel Legends retailers.
