This is the Talbot-Lago "Tear Drop" that was the Pebble Beach winner in 1997. The woodwork and other components of the actual car had gone through restoration in Europe a few years prior but it was decided that a complete restoration was necessary to compete at the Pebble Beach level. The woodwork was completely intact but needed some repair and refinishing especially in the door surrounds which had become loose with age. The Figoni and Falaschi trademark carvings were sharpened up as well. Previously owned by Dr.Masquefa of Morocco for 40 years, it was raced and driven in Algeria, Morocco, and the South of France. The current owner, Mr. William E. Connor II was gracious enough to make this rare beauty available for modelling.

The stance and finish are every bit as wonderful as the first rendering of this marque. The two-tone paint scheme is striking and combined with the heart shaped trunk lid sets it apart from its sibling. The removable sunroof is a nice touch and makes it just a little more than a static model. It also lets you get a better view of that beautifully detailed interior with fully numbered gauges and wood trim on the dash, door panels and window cranks. Some collectors were annoyed at MCUSA's decision to issue another Talbot-Lago but I think this rendering only compliments the original and gives a more accurate historical representation by showcasing the variations of the marque. Rating: 5 stars.
