Introduced on November 6, 1998, this Franklin Mint offering was one of the many new creations that proved the "Mint" in Franklin was really true. This car has it all. I usually start up front, however, on this beautiful car the interior draws the attention first. In my opinion, the seats in this car are among the best of any of the mints. The brocaded
cloth stiched (or glued, so well done you can't tell)into the simulated leather, catches your eye immediately. The rich maroon carpeting highlights the effect. The two-tone wood (simulated?) inlay work on the tops of the four doors and back of front seat are very well done. The dash is decal, but the rest of the interior hardware is first class. The rear "speed boat" winshield takes awhile to get used to; but works in the end. Oh, nice steering wheel too.
This car has lots of nice chrome work to accent the rich dark blue paint job. Chrome spokes are fairly good along with the two side mount spares that sport leather strapped
chrome mirrors. Photo etched winshield wiper, and Mercedes hood emblem and Mercedes logo on grille add to its charm. Under-carraige is good.
The motor is above average and features spring metal exhausts (three coming out of right hand side hood). The fire wall is done in a swirled polish style metal. Some attempts of wiring, but no spark wires. Motor gets an "A" anyway. The chrome trimed real wood running boards set off the exterior. Headlights, bumbers tail light, chrome side vents and running lights add to the glamour. This car is a knock-out winner. The issue price is $135. (06/15/2000)
