Introduced in January of 1957, and thought to be Cadillac's answer to the Continental Mark II, the concept and design of the Brougham originated over a four year period and a series of GM Motorama show cars. FM has engineered this model with a LOT of separate pieces that don't always fit together well, nor are they in correct alignment. The highlight of this model is the two-tone blue interior (one of 44 possible combinations). The seats have a soft feel and feature front and rear folding armrests. Door panels and dashboard have nice detail. The trunk if fully lined (including the underside of the lid) with the same soft feel material. The chassis seems accurate, as does the engine compartment which includes the electrically run compressor for the air suspension. The doors have large gaps that are only slighty hidden by the black color. The bumper/grille/headlamp combo is too tall (although the grille is a correct "screen") as is the windshield. The tires should be lower in profile also. The roof looks like the correct brushed stainless steel. The chrome side trim really brings down this model, it should have been designed to a much closer tolerance. This model actually has a fatal flaw. The lower part of each door, containing the chrome side trim, is actualy a plated piece which will not hold the black paint over time. The paint will crack and peel. This is apparenty the reason that this model is no longer available from FM. It's a shame, the Eldorado Brougham deserves better than this. The issue price is $120. DISCONTINUED 1997.
