(THIS CAR IS SOLD-OUT - REVIEW APPEARS AS A MATTER OF RECORD) After much ado....the '82 is finally available... and it's a very good effort. Great attention was paid to fidelity and small details...the bronze/chrome tint of the specific Collector Edition wheels, the minute intricacies of the interior panels...color that is perfectly reproduced, the folds in the "leather", the subtlety of the interior door panel stripes and the delicate reproduction of the legible instruments, It's all there. The engine is wonderfully replicated showing a real dedication to FM's design team to fidelity and awesome detail. What's more ...build quality has taken a quantum leap forward...the doors don't sag (they're tight and operate snugly), the signature door gaps have been reduced (they're still there, but....), and the twin tinted T-tops attach with pins but they don't quite fit ( might be this reviewer's clumsy paws, too).

Overall, this Corvette, one of the most handsome ever to roll down the line at Bowling Green, has been beautifully reproduced and it's to FM's credit that they are making a concerted effort. The 5-Star replica has yet to come from FM.... but, finally, there may be light at the end of the tunnel. A must for Vette Collectors, the '82 is beautiful and solid. It's limited production status gives it yet another edge...catch one while you can.... Note that this model was first issued with un-lettered blackwalls, then the run was corrected and lettered whitewalls were distributed.

*Editor's Note: FM sources tell us that the blackwall version was issued in slightly higher number than the white-outlined letter version.

The issue price was $90. (07/09/1998)
