Franklin Mint 1:24 1948 Tucker 50th Anniversary Edition- Gold- Ltd Ed Of 15,000 (D/C) diecast car

The car that was hailed as "the First Completely New Car" in half a century is back again in 1/24th scale in this re-release from the Franklin Mint. The FM is celebrating Tuckers 50th anniversary in a golden finish Torpedo model identical, except in color and the embossed identification on the bottom of the chassis, to their silver blue model first issued in April of 1993. The Tucker was designed by Alex Tremulis, a former designer of Deusenbergs, Cords and Auburn cars and many of the design features of the Tucker became the standards for other cars in years to follow.

Detail on this model was quite good when first released 4 years ago and that is still true. There have been no additional state of the art features added that are apparent to this reviewer. The rear engine compartment detail is very correct and FM has provided a support rod for holding the motor cover open for display purposes (a feature that should be considered for many other models as well.) The spacious front hooded storage area even comes equipped with luggage. One of the joys of this particular car in a collection is uniqueness in its radical design. It is a standout model of a car truly fashioned for the future.

The issue price is $145.
