Franklin Mint 1:24 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350- Nbr Signature Ltd Edition Of 3500 (Discontinued) diecast car

Franklin Mint produced what I believe to be one of their best 1:24 scale model cars ever with this Shelby GT 350 release. The car is absolutely stunning in its detail. Doors, hood and trunk fit perfectly and the white paint work is flawless with great blue racing stripes. It has the suspension which we have now come to expect and the engine is so detailed you want to take the key that comes with this model and kick it over. The interior dash, seats and instrument panel again is just outstanding. And of course, this diecast comes with the Carroll Shelby signature scrawled across the trunk. The limited edition (3,500) model also includes a case, numbered certificate, manufacturers plate, commemorative key blank and custom key chain.

With all this good stuff going, what could one say that isn't flattering about this release? Well, in your reviewers opinion, the cost ($595.00) makes this a very pricey model and not for everyone. All the added "stuff" including Carroll Shelbys signature (in FM's opinion apparently) adds about $475 in value. Where do you place this model in your collection? Or do you present this model for view with its included "shrine" as something better than the rest of your collection? Because of the limited number and signature, this model may be more of an investors toy than the typical model for the average collector. It will be interesting to see how well this concept flies. If it goes, there will probably be 2 or 3 other Shelby models waiting in the wings. As a collector, this one may not get to my show cabinet. As an investor, well, we'll see. (02/10/98)

As of 12/19/2000 FM reports that inventory stock is very low.
