The "repaint" of FM's 1949 Cadillac represents a new direction - a numbered limited edition, but certainly not one to quickly sell out, given that the edition is 10,000. The packaging includes a numbered tag on the box, and the same number appears on the floor of the trunk, in a "XXXX of 10,000 format." The car is a solid color, called burgundy, but it looks very brown.
Jay Engel has indicated that this model was factory painted in two-tones, which was replicated in the still-available blue '49 DeVille, in order to carry the impression of a convertible top. He states that a solid color DeVille is not authentic.
The fit, finish, stance and overall appearance of this model is good - apparently no changes were made other than the color. Member Ken Griese commented that the steering linkage was not good on the original FM model, but an inspection of the old and new versions here failed to disclose any problems. The issue price is $120.
