I've said it before and I'll say it again - Harley-Davidson understands tradition like no other motorcycle manufacturer. H-D's Heritage Springer is a perfect example of this. Put it alongside the '48 Panhead (from which it was derived) and this tradition becomes evident - it's bigger and brawnier but the relationship is clear. Someone from the '40s would feel right at home astride this beast. Well, maybe after he got over the shock of its five-decades-newer technological advances. The most mind-boggling of these would be the powerful, yet glass-smooth Evolution engine. The Heritage Springer, for all its vintage cues, is a thoroughly modern bike beneath the skin.
FM has got their 1:10 scale motorcycle image features locked-in. Working pedals and steering, smoothly operating suspensions front and rear, soft-touch seats - the Springer's no exceptionin this area. Gobs of chrome in all the expected places will warm the heart of any Harley aficionado. A pair of soft saddlebags and period exhaust tips, combined with a flawless, two-tone, dark blue and silver paint job, add the finishing touches. FM even throws in a matching 1:10 scale helmet. [CARE TIP: the mirrors on the Springer are the same as on the Fatboy, namely very fragile. Exercise care in handling or they'll break off.]
A trip to the local Harley-Davidson dealer can get you a state-of-the-art motorcycle, linked solidly to the past. The Heritage Springer simply oozes the tradition that Harley markets like the accessories they sell. Technology PLUS tradition - go for it! The issue price is $135.
