I don't know about you, but when I look at the "Union Jack" edition of the inimitable 1967 Morris Mini, I think-the Beatles! the Stones! Peter Max and the Yellow Submarine! Westminster Cathedral (the song, that is)! And let's not forget that other famous "mini," that glorious creation by Mary Quant that made legs all the rage, the mini-skirt! If you still haven't gotten your fill of the "Mighty Mite," here's another version right out of the psychedelic sixties. Unlike the rallye version, it's basically the standard FM first release of this fine little image but painted in blue with a Union Jack pattern starting on the roof and covering the sides, front, and back. There's a different color scheme in the interior as well. If this little beauty doesn't put you in a right-hand drive mood, you're obviously no anglophile. So you say you already have the first release? Perhaps you have that AND the Rallye Edition? Well, so do I, but I still found some room on the shelf (not much needed either) for FM's tribute to the swingin' sixties, British style. Looks like FM's getting the hang of the re-paint trend. After all, when you drop 250k to get a die made you want to get as much out of it as you can, and Christmas only comes once a year. The issue price is $75. (01/29/2000) (01/29/2000) |
