The FM '32 Ford Convertible Sedan is typical of the Ford cars that Bonnie and Clyde stole for use in their robberies and getaways. Franklin Mint's extra attention to minute detail makes this jaunty car, with its double sidemounts, a standout. The photo-etched grille is perfection itself. A fragile photo-etched "V-8" emblem perches on the headlight bar and a feed wire exits from each light and enters the grille shell. Close inspection of the engine compartment reveals a neatly wired flathead V-8, with fuel lines, magneto wiring, all plumbing (separate clamps on the radiator hoses), etc. Even the cowl vent opens.

The black and gunmetal chassis is complete with drivetrain, suspension and the most delicate wheel spokes that I've seen on a Mint diecast replica so far. The interior, with its supple saddle-colord leather, has folding seats, pedals, shifter, brake, door handles and more. Oh yes, also a photo-etched key fob. An interesting touch is the jute exiting from the bullet holes in the side panels.

The main attraction of this diecast are the bullet holes. They are counter sunk into the body panels and are then tampoed to represent the hole and the chipped paint surrounding it. Spider-webbing around the holes in the windows is also well done. All in all, very convincing. The thin gold stripe in the beltline and the overall finish on my example is also well done. Accessories include top-up or down options, hats, cigar box, bullets, and tiny guns in the trunk. My only nitpicks are the unpainted hood hinge an door support hinges. Otherwise one of TFM best diecasts. The issue price is $120.00. (04/04/2000)
