Sleek, futuristic lines of the ’59 Impala were longer, lower and wider than its predecessor. This Yat-Ming ’59 Chevrolet Impala convertible successfully captures the essence of the original. Metallic blue paint and white/blue interior combine with whitewall tires and chrome to make a very eye-catching model. The continental kit matches the blue body. All external trim is chrome and nicely fit. A white plastic convertible boot is molded with wrinkles, making it look like its’ full size counterpart. Tires have no lettering. The dash is white with a blue instrument cluster with detailed printed instrument faces. All door handles and window cranks are separate chromed pieces. Brake, clutch and accelerator pedals are done in black, showing well against the white simulated carpet. Doors and hood are a nice fit, but the trunk does not open due to the continental tire kit. Tires have no lettering. Basic measurements are accurate to 1/18 scale. Underbody detail includes dual exhausts. The engine represents a 348 V8 but does not have much detail. Being an entry-level diecast, this Impala can be purchased for around $20, making it a very good value and a very nice display piece. This model would be ideal for super-detailers looking for an inexpensive upgrade project. (08/15/2001) |
