The sleek, futuristic lines of the ’59 Impala were longer, lower and wider than its predecessor. This Yat-Ming ’59 Chevrolet Impala convertible effectively captures the essence of the original. Contrast between whitewall tires and chrome with the gleaming black paint combine to make this is a very striking model. All external trim is chrome and nicely fit. A white plastic convertible boot is molded with wrinkles, making it look very much like its’ full size counterpart. Tires have no lettering. The dash is white with a gray instrument cluster, employing detailed printed instrument faces. Visors are painted black to match the body color. All door handles and window cranks are separate chromed pieces. Brake, clutch and accelerator pedals are done in black, showing well against the white simulated carpet. Doors and hood are a nice fit, but the trunk does not open due to the continental tire kit. Tires have no lettering. Basic measurements are accurate to 1/18 scale. The engine depicts a 348 V8 but does not have much detail. Being an entry-level diecast, this Impala can be purchased for around $20, making it a very good value and a very nice display piece. This model would be ideal for super-detailers looking for an inexpensive upgrade project. (08/15/2001) |
