In 1969, the hot ticket on the street was Chevrolet's Z/28 Camaro. Perhaps that is why we have so many models of this screamer. Lucky us! As a late comer to diecast collecting, I have been unimpressed by some of Franklin's models, especially earlier editions. However, when it comes to this car, Franklin has scored a hit. The first thing I noticed was that inside the standard gray cardboard Franklin box was another box with pictures and details of the car. Inside this box was the familiar styrofoam packing with the Z/28 snuggled safe inside. The car is beautiful! The flawless black paint is complemented by the trademark Z/28 racing stripes, done in white. Features include: detailed interior (even the roof liner looks correct), fantastic engine detail that includes the smog devices of the day, and an exceptionally well detailed exterior with a black vinyl top, and white lettered Goodyear tires mounted on gorgeous rally wheels. On one hand I'm glad I got one of the 2000 limited edition models which is sure to appreciate in value, but on the other I feel bad for those unfortunate souls who failed to order one! Well done, Franklin! The issue price is $135. (05/21/2000) (05/21/2000) |
