AutoArt 1:43 2001 Nissan Skyline R34 Nismo-Z-Tune

Nissan's legendary Nismo tuning group made this Skyline a redline delight. Dick explains why the model is a diecast delight.
Review by Dick Browne

Overview

AUTOart has produced a lovely 1:43rd scale model of the 2001 Nissan Skyline R34 Nismo Z-Tune version. The car is the fifth generation of this GT-R that began back in 1969. It is powered by the 2.6 Liter, 16 Valve six-cylinder engine bored out to 2.8 liters. In this full racing configuration, the engine produces 500 horsepower at 6,800 RPM and 398 pound-feet of torque at 5,200 RPM. Only 20 cars were built and they sold for about $160,000.

The model is beautifully finished with a silver body. The outside is well decorated with a red and black body stripe decals and other red and black markings where the stripes end at the rear side window. Larger red and black designs appear on the right side of the hood.

On the top of the rear window is the lettering: “z-tune G-ATTACK z-tune” with nismo under it. On the bottom edge of the window, in very fine print is Omari Factory. Other decals on the doors and front fenders spell out other components but are too small to read with an 8X magnifying glass. “Bridgestone” appears on the lower rear quarter panel and “NISMO” r-tune on the front and rear plates.

The black interior is nicely detailed with the correct RHD steering wheel. The silver-colored racing seat belts and shoulder harnesses are all there as is the chrome–colored 6-speed, console mounted shift lever. The tires are, of course, black and the five spoke black wheels reveal the disc brakes and yellow calipers. The only moving parts are the turning front wheels.

With its air dams all around and a rear spoiler, this is one scary looking sports car. AUTOart has done an excellent job in creating this 1:43 scale diecast model. If you are into sports cars, Nissan’s, or just like a very good model, this one should get your attention.
