10/03/2009: FRANKLIN MINT ANNOUNCES POWER-PACKED SLATE FOR REST OF YEAR

Franklin Mint loves to make Corvettes, and at the end of November, they will deliver a very special beauty. The "Wil Cooksey Special"! It's a No. 001 2008 Corvette 427 Limited Edition Z06, named after the long time plant manager at GM's Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky. Think "where Corvettes come from." Wil retired in 2008 and this car -- equipped with special paint, wheels and 427-embroidered seats commemorates his devotion to the 'Vette. Only 505 Z06s were so equipped and Wil signed everyone. And he's signed every one of this edition size limited to 505 1:24 models.

About the same time, we'll get Franklin Mint's 2008 Hertz ZHZ Coupe. In yellow/black, it's the featured supercar in the Hertz Fun Collection. Maybe you don't want to own one of these 24/7 365, but once or twice a year it would be fun to see what the 436 hp LS3 6.2L V8 aluminum-block engine can do, as you choose between Tour, Sport or "Terrorize an In-Law" mode in your Selective Ride Control. This 'Vette is made exclusively for Hertz. Only 1,000 models to be made.

All the other FM Bel Air models are out of production or discontinued. We're lucky they're sending us a 1954 Bel Air Sport Coupe in Onyx Black. With that color scheme, of course it's due on Halloween. You can almost smell the smell of a 1954 new car.

Wow! Wor the 1958 Chrysler 300D Convertible on its way in early November. Franklin Mint is out of production on its 1957 300C. Although a few independent dark color versions may still be available, this '58 in baby blue is period perfect and all Everly Brothers singing "Bye Bye Love".

The two previous FM 1957 Cadillac Brougham models are discontinued, so we're really glad to see the soon to be released 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham in maroon and ample chrome. The fins still have refinement, some finesse. Only 1,500 to be made.

Franklin Mint has been so successful with Duesenbergs, and we can now look forward to a 1933 Duesenberg J Convertible Victoria in majestic burgundy after the first of the year. It's the perfect car to celebrate New Years in!

From the same year, 1933, will come a terrific Chicago Tudor Police Car with Trailer. You need something to chase the gangsters cavorting in all the getaway cars Franklin Mint has made over the years. And the model maker gives you a cache of miniature tommy guns and the like to shoot 'em with. This model is great, lots of "finger fun" as my friend Rusty Hurley says.

Celebrating 45 years of Mustang love, FM is coming out with a red 1965 Mustang Hardtop Coupe. This model is due just before Christmas so be sure to reserve so distractions don't keep you from getting it.

Back to Corvettes... our friends at Diecast Reproductions have made three independent replicas. Corvette expert Tony Perrone has gotten his hands on two of them, with big thumbs up for both: The 1972 Corvette Coupe ZR1 in Pewter Silver and the 1972 Corvette Coupe ZR1 in Ontario Orange.

Both of these are very limited edition, to 350 each. Legacy Motors is fortunate to be able to offer them to you. Plus the third release, which looks equally drool-worthy, a 1971 Corvette Roadster ZR2 in Brands Hatch Green.

Many of these are very limited editions or small initial runs. So be sure to reserve now on Legacy Motors. That way you'll be notified when the models arrive and you'll be invited to your Personal Pre-order Page to purchase your reserved model.
