02/17/2011: HOW OUR ASTRONAUTS GOT TO THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON

Launch date for the final flight of space shuttle Discovery is scheduled for Feb. 24. We have some relevant news.

Before Armstrong and Aldrin walked on the moon, there was the historic Apollo 8. The 3-man crew of mission Commander Frank Borman, Command Module Pilot James Lovell, and Lunar Module Pilot William Anders became the first humans to directly see the far side of the Moon.

Apollo 8 was the first human spaceflight to leave Earth orbit; the first crewed voyage to return to planet Earth from another celestial body Earth's Moon.

We have lift off! Legacy Motors has taken delivery of Dragon's 1:72 model Apollo 8 Command Module.

In the Legacy Motors Sci Fi wing, we have several NASA notables. These are milestone's in man's progress into the celestial reaches.

Our offerings include:

Saturn V with Skylab - our first space station and the rocket that launched it

Space Shuttle "Columbia" with Solid Rocket Booster - the first Space Shuttle in NASA's orbital fleet. Columbia completed 27 missions, covering 125 million miles. (Let's see your Toyota pickup do that!)

Space Shuttle "Endeavour" - hardworking spacecraft most familiar to tv audiences worldwide featuring landing gear

Our Sci Fi wing also offers star Trek Enterprise replicas. Currently in stock is the Star Trek Enterprise NCC-1701 from the original TV series. "Beam me up Scottie!"
