To show how cool and fulfilling display cases can be, we created the “Colin Powell Challenge” – the goal: to create a shadowbox display to present General Powell’s military decorations. Yes, that Colin Powell - internationally admired military leader, four star general, former Chmn. of Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of State.

We asked the leading layout designer of military shadowbox displays to create a display presenting General Powell’s decorations. Her name is Terry Vandever. Her 30 years at Camp Pendleton showed her the need on the part of military families and veterans for a proper presentation of medal and flags.

29 medals and pins appear in the display. Included are his four stars, Joint Chief of Staff’s badge, Vietnam Service Medal and badges for Combat Infantry, Air Assault and Parachutist. The medals prove that it was an accomplished soldier who was to head the Joint Chiefs during the Gulf War.
