Here is breaking news - which have been top sellers of precision replicas at the larger scales of 1:24 and 1:18??
Since Jan. 1, the 1:18 So-Cal Belly Tanker has been the top seller among our collectors. This is a Replicarz limited reproduction of Precision Miniatures original master. The Belly Tanker has won accolades forever including this one: “Most Honored Car in the History of Bonneville”. Zone reviewer and racing historian Bill Bennett takes you through all the wonderfulness of both subject and model.
Very close on its heels is the 1938 Phantom Corsair in 1:24 resin by Automodello. Designed by Raffi Minasian, with a subject he excels at. We have been told only 10 left in the distribution channels.
Increasingly resin or curbside models will dominate top-tier 1:24 models.
Full diecast operability at #3: Kyosho scored big with their extravagant recent releases of 1:18 Rolls-Royce Ghost Diamond. This is the one in Black, the Silver having sold out earlier in 2011. The model abounds with luxury options, but I LOVE this one: the center cap stays fixed as wheels turn so Rolls Royce emblem is always upright.
Tie for #4. 1st is Acme's limited production run of the Pure Hell Fuel Altered Dragster. Another iconic racer inspired by Precision Miniatures brilliant original version, enhanced and brought back to life.
2nd: 2010 Porsche 918 Spyder from Minichamps. Two left of this spirited Germanic sprite and then gone!
Re-issued only one week ago, the 1:16 Wells Fargo Stagecoach has stampeded into #6. BTW, this is the last model Franklin Mint is making.
Here are a few more from top 10 to consider: Ferrari FF... Brawner Hawk - winner of 1969 Indy 500... Mazda 787B - 1991 Le Mans winner.
Sadly the Monkeemobile finished in 16th place. It's truly an awesome model.
