VOILA! French Modeler Norev has brought a lot of "joie de vivre" (joy) to Legacy at the end of this week. Five 1:18 new issues in, including two at their higher *HQ* standard.
The real soupe du jour among the new issues is a 2012 Mercedes-Benz SL500. This car introduces the latest generation of SL grand tourers. It's the 6th since 1954.
The car looks magical, and Mercedes has done everything to turn up the pleasure and wizardry. Where they could scoop on some "a la mode" - they did! Like the intelligent wiper blades or a "self-aware" steering wheel.
The model captures the magic 100%. You can almost hear the roar as you breeze past traffic on a winding forested road. The model is at the HQ level, so expect styrofoam packaging and extra attention.
Norev shows off its savoir-faire in their other HQ release: 1978 BMW M1. OOH-LA-LA! This is a rare BMW, a collaboration between Lamborghini and BMW to build a production race car. Look closely and you can see the design DNA from both companies in the car and model. Color: red.
We finally got the 1972 Citroen DS 23 Pallas in Orient Blue w/ grey roof. The color is mesmerizing and as they say in Paris, "tres chic!" Selling briskly.
BTW, Norev matches its productions to pre-orders. So the models tend to sell out quickly, as retailers are usually conservative in underestimating demand. C'est la vie!
Pause to consider two 1957 Mercedes-Benz sports cars: Mercedes 190 SL in an exuberant red and the Mercedes 230 SL topless in black.
