the historic appearance of the car. What they did is copying the restored version of the car, that is how the Chinese manufacturers make models, I doubt they licensed these models with GM either. However once they call it Al Capone's car they commit to history. I believe metallic paints were invented in the early 30's, so while the model potentially can be historically accurate, that probability is very low. The restored car is not painted in metallic paint either, hence the only reason they did it this way is to create similar impression to the restored car's paint that is deep and shiny. After all the model is impressive, while unlikely historically accurate. Personally I like it and will keep it in my collection.

BTW the metallic is as easy to see on the model as on the pictures posted by Rick.
