Sounds like a seller a friend dealt with
So my buddy bought a FM 67 in Marina blue from a seller who represented the car as PERFECT. And the price was at the middle of the range at the time. Seller had cancer, blah blah blah. Looking back, photos were taken to hide that it was missing a wheel center. on further investigation, the SELLER had bought it a month earlier in an auction where they beat my buddy on the LOWER end of the range. Same LTD edition # car. So it was the same and the earlier photo showed the missing wheel center.

Seller tried to be all innocent and cancer, etc. Offered NO help or recourse. I told Todd to get ebay involved, which he did. Ebay eventually forced a refund to my buddy and seller had to pay return shipping. They disappeared after that for a while. They are back now. They list the same car 2 or 3 times with different prices. And each with the cancer thing in the listing. this is at least 1.5 years since the Vette incident.

Ebay will force sellers to do a return if the buyer is in the right. And if the seller refuses, eBay will take the money from the seller's account and make the return happen even if seller says NO RETURNS - have had to use it myself on a BP bass boat for my boss.

On the other side of that, I try to be as honest and fair as possible. I recently sold a car and buyer was real snotty in telling me to pack carefully because he had received a lot of damaged cars recently. So I packed the car carefully and sent it off. Then I get an email that the car was killed in shipping. I requested photos and eventually refunded money, paid shipping etc.

I got the car back and can't quite prove it 100%, but I believe the buyer used me for a FREE upgrade. I don't think the car sent back was the same car I sent. Unfortunately I didn't have a high enough res photo to prove my point and what would I do anyway? What would ebay do to help me? Nothing.

I don't let medical conditions color my feelings on a transaction anymore. And have considered finding a way to "mark" my cars so that if I get one back I can make sure it is the one I sent. People can really suck.

Sorry for the long post, but this stuff has been "real" to me recently on both sides of the coin.
