Keep in mind that there is inertia in the market in the ..
... settings of lack of real (I mean quantity) supply of quality 1:24. The existing collectors are filling the gaps in their collections, that's one of the reasons the market stays "strong". Automodello is the only manufacturer of quality 1:24 with occasional bursts from D4C and most recently Esval (we will see if they offer anything new in Nuremberg toy fair 2020). However the number of newly produced models is very small fraction of what the Mints used to produce. If there was growing number of collectors in the setting of low supply, there would be price increase particularly of the highest sought models, which is absolutely not evident. It takes sometimes years for Automodello to sell 500 cars, Legacy still hasn't sold the Jay Leno Duesenberg inventory. Some will say, these are too expensive, or they are curbside models, or these are niche models however these low numbers indicate to me low demand, there are perhaps 2-3 thousand "core collectors" who are willing to pay some extra to have new models in their collections.
