...Their work kept getting better over time. During the period when they transitioned from dog-leg door hinges to internal, and much more realistic units, and then added scissors hinges, is when they were in their hey-day. Later, FM and WCPD followed suit. DM's first set of T-Birds, of the '80's and '90's, were of lower-tech. Those into the 2000's, were progressively better and at the zenith of diecast model building.
