I went to Tulsa in 2007 to see the car unearthed. There was lots of optimism that the Plymouth
survived for the last 50 years as entombed in 1957. That optimism was short lived, as the lid came off and the car was revealed to be sitting in two feet of red-orange rusty liquid. Orange stained lines in the vault revealed how the water level had risen and fallen over the prior 50 years. The poor Belvedere, after exhumation, looked a lot like a large piece of KFC extra crispy fried chicken.
