More on paints
Like Gregory, I am a big fan, and user, of Krylon paints. My stock pile of them over the last 25 years would cause the EPA cause for concern. When there is no longer propellant enough to spray them, too frugal to invest in an airbrush,I have learned how to extract the paint and use it in a Prevo Sprayer. Krylon colors can be polished with something like Blue Magic as the quality of the gloss can sometimes be inconsistent. To work around that I have recently (belatedly) discovered Testors Model Master High Gloss Clear Coat which will put an exceptional, virtually production model gloss, to a paint job. Since I believe this to be an enamel material one has to force oneself to put the model aside for at least a week before further assembly work as it takes about that long to be completely dry but the end result is worth it. I concur with my friend Graeme on the use of automotive touch up aerosol paints if one is looking for a very specific color. Some however will have metallics that look a bit too course. You will have to experiment a bit.
