Jack and Davids, just checked Wikipedia....for 1955, Pontiac and Chevrolet shared the new A platform
In North America and Australia. The two brands were very similar in size. Of course, many Pontiacs were larger than their Chevrolet counterparts before 1955 because Pontiacs came with longer wheelbases and even a 11 inch frame extension to the rear. So as Jack says, all new platform after 1954. And as David points out, great similarities in side profiles in the sedans and wagons. I think the trim was unique to each brand though. Incidentally, I have a few 1956 Chevrolet models, sedan and wagon made for me by Jerry Rettig and John Roberts that nicely melded a Motor City Chevrolet front with a Brooklin Pontiac back end.
