I found a reference on page 71 of the Strutt/Wright white metal book.
Abingdon Classics started in 1975, following interest expressed by the late Dick Knudson (the New England MG T Register's co-founder). Soon after he partnered with John Roff but split in 1979 to forge ahead with Abingdon. As I recall, the K&Rs were kits, while Abingdons were always built up. I couldn't find any other reference to Roff. Max sold off the Abingdon range to MiniMarque in 1986, having started Top Marques in 1984.
