If this were mine, I would create a grilll section using
a series of silver colored wire lengths bent to shape. In looking at my Standard 12 it looks like 28 gage wire would do it. Mine is made by Tower and is commonly available at hardware stores. Fill the existing grill cavity with J B Weld so the wire sections will be at the same level as the opposite side. Glue them down with clear nail polish then recoat on the top for final security.
