Is the Packard Hawk the Ugliest American car? (pics)
As Packard was dying under Studebaker's debts, they tried a final farewell, modifying Studebaker's Golden Hawk with attributes that suggested a continuation of Packard ideals. Fewer than 600 were produced, and Packard production ended forever.
Our colleagues over on Forum 24 have been choosing the best and worst looking cars of the last few decades, and several chose this Packard last gasp for the negative. I've seen a few of the 1:1 version, and I kind of like that fiberglass front end. And I really like my 1:43 version, too. Or maybe it's just that I still miss seeing those big, silent Packards glide by.
