I need to share this...
I had quite a few of models out for some new photos this past week or so, and in that process I came across my Goldvarg 1958 Fairlane. Now I have become accustomed to parts falling off (or my clumsiness breaking them off) I can usually find the piece and makes repairs, but this model was different. The lower portion of the grill insert was missing and nowhere to be found. Since I am very fond of the model, I was a bit upset. I went to eBay to see if I could find a replacement, but nope. The only ones I found was the wagon. I considered buying another one of those and swapping the grill/bumper assembly, but the thought of cannibalizing a perfectly good model disturbed me. So I took a chance and reached out to Sergio Goldvarg to see if I could get a new insert piece or even a new grill assembly.
Sergio was very kind and willing to help out. He said he would take care of it. I was thrilled to know that my Fairlane would be complete again. In today's mail I received a package from Sergio and I can honestly say I was blown away. In the box was a complete new model. And not only just a model, but according to Sergio's email, a prototype with black-wall tires. So not only do I have a replacement, I have something special and a model I will cherish.
The last several months have been really tough for me, working on the front lines during this pandemic has been brutal and some days everything good seems to be gone. We people can be so unkind when faced with stressful circumstances. My faith in my fellow man has been deeply questioned, but one simple act of understanding and kindness has restored so much.
I can't even tell you how much I appreciate his gesture, and how much it has done for me today. I've told him as best as I could, and I thought it necessary to share.
Thanks for reading my ramble.
Everyone take care and please be safe.
