Pics: On a rainy Friday afternoon, just looking back to the good old days
when NYC taxis were Ford Crown Vics. As I posted this, my memory suggests I’ve posted these taxis before. In fact, I did back in September of 2019. Perhaps then, another example of more is better, but only if you’re into taxis and fleet vehicles.

These next two pictures remind me of the view from our hotel room during a trip to The Big Apple in 2013. The last time I rode in a Crown Vic NYC taxi was in 2008. Production of the Crown Vic ceased in 2011. These excellent replicas in 1:43 are by Greenlight and are still available. Visible in these pictures is the Nissan NV 200, in 1:43 by Daron, a successor to the Crown Vic.









And if this isn’t enough to make a grown man cry, here are brand spankin’ new Crown Vic taxis on a flooded lot in Hoboken, NJ waiting for delivery to NYC but now a total loss. This occurred during Hurricane Sandy.
