It's a shame that some have to take something sweet, disect it and spit it out as venom. That's
what has happened to this song. The words mean something totally different to the younger crowd these days than it did when I grew up in the 40s/50s.

Back then no one would EVER equate this song with date rape. It brought about sly smiles and knowing nods and that's about it.

All today's younger group can see is date rape. If you read the words and watch the videos there is more than a slight suggestion of that (in today's reasoning).

Too bad the way minds work in modern times. The coy actions required by this song are lost on those who have no idea what wholesomeness meant back then.
