What? I would argue that MOST people who drive "anything" do it to be noticed. Afterall, what does..
...a Porsche roaster offer that's so terribly different than a Mazda Miata? Yes, of course it's faster & handles better, etc... but is that experience really worth the HUGE price difference? No. People simply would rather be seen in a Porsche. Why does one buy a Lincoln sedan when they can easily afford a Ford sedan? Most people want to "be seen" in a "better" vehicle and will pay the price to do so.We, as a country, learned this lesson more than 100 years ago when the "novelty of the Model T" wore off and "glamour & fashion" became desirable (and profitable). The 1950's and '60's was the pinnacle of this "reality." All anyone really needs is "a rolling box" to transport them from A to B. But few settle for that.It's human nature to want "the best rolling box" one can afford.To call someone a "sorry soul" just because they desire something different & want to be noticed (despite the fact you may hate it) is, IMO, a bit harsh.
