It seems like the '96 Taurus was almost universally disliked even in the markets
where they were mostly sold. Perhaps there was an unsold surplus elsewhere because Ford New Zealand imported a quantity of built up 1996 Taurus models that included both sedans and station wagons. Some even included a Yamaha V8 based around a block used to build outboard motors.
Anyway, they all sold apparently and often are sold used.
An interesting thing is that if you were to ask anybody their opinion of the cars appearance there would be a negative response - a hunched back frog - seems to cover this car.
A body shape that clearly influenced the design of the Australian 1998 AU model Ford Falcon and variants.

The ‘65 is very cool! The ‘96 Taurus was a winning design by mrs Smith’s third grade class. (EOM) by Tim Kubiak #42265.1
Love the '65 Ford. The school class that did the Taurus had a "frog" theme to follow. (EOM) by Jack Dodds #42265.1.1

Would very much like to hear that '65 Cammer run. (EOM) by Terry Daly #42265.3
