DUESENBERG: Celebrating an American Classic

Body by Derham Body Co. – Philadelphia, PA …Chassis: 2577
THE STORY OF TWO DUESENBERGS, J-551 AND J-310
The body on this Duesenberg, by Derham Body Company, began its life on J-551. The owner did not like the aerodynamic elements, such as the waterfall grille and had the original 1929 grill mounted on the car. Eventually, he removed the body from the chassis and used engine J-551 for another project.
The owner of the other car, J-310, used its original body, a Judkins limousine body for another project and removed it as well. The original body from J-551 and engine J-310 were purchased by the same collector, Homer Fitterling, who mounted the Derham body you see here to J-310. The original aerodynamic parts that had been removed were also retuned to the original design.
Information provided by the Gilmore Car Museum.

Working off the notion that there is no such thing as a bad Duesenberg by Bruce Gibbins #42711.1
For whatever reason, I like that waterfall grill. Unusual for a Duesenberg for sure, but to by Rick Scoville #42711.1.1
