So with regard to "brand loyalty", what if Chevy decided to call their next car Pontiac?
Would it sell better than if the name on it were Chevy? Sorry, I see it as General Motors still producing cars, none of which have any lineage to those in decades past, other than they have a "name" on them. I mean seriously, what does a 1955 Chevrolet have in common with a 2019 Chevrolet? Absolutely nothing except the name posted on its hood and trunk! So instead of putting the letters "C H E V R O L E T" on the hood and trunk, put the letters "P O N T I A C". I don't see letters changing the car. Same goes for Ford and Chrysler.
