And a public service announcement from James Dean (RIP) (video)
As you might know, James Dean died in one of these Porsche 550's at the young age of 25 in the midst of filming the movie Giant.
This public service announcement was filmed 2 weeks before his death. If you haven't seen it, it is worth the 2 minutes to watch it...it really shows Mr Deans charismatic personality.

This is the last pic taken of James on the day he died.
He just fueled up (and is smoking a cigarette near the gas pumps) for his trip to the race track to race his 550....he never made it to the race track.
His Porsche was customized by George Barris, builder of the famous Batmobile of the 1960's.
The Ford woodie wagon with the trailer, behind his 550, also belonged to Dean...he used it to trailer it to the track, but on this day he wanted to drive it to the track.

A very good pic. There's some nice contrast with the background. (EOM) by Steve Jakubczak #44919.1

Someone should have bought that '55 Ford woody and stored it; would be worth $$$ today. (EOM) by Jack Dodds #44919.2.1
