Most of my 50 going on 60 cars have been manuals...
with virtually all variations - three speed column (Vauxhall Cresta) four speed column (old - three Hillmans, not so old, Renault 16) dash mounted (Citroen twins of various kinds), four, five and six speed manuals, and just four autos (Peugeot 504, Mercedes W124, Lancia Thema, and my current Skoda Yeti) Some were good, some not so. The Citroen manual changes were very simple and clever, the Renault well sorted. THe Yeti has the standard 6 speed DSG auto from the VW Group and is the best auto I've driven. Problem is the Juke is a manual 6 speed and I keep forgetting that I have to waggle the stick myself!
