(Video)Ah, the days of real stock racing where factory stock cars would compete on a race track that
consisted of soft and hard sand, clay and blacktop along an ocean beach in Florida. The cars were supposedly all running factory stock engines with modifications only allowed in the suspension, structural integrity, weight and safety.

Speeds reached 140 MPH. Second gear would take a car over 100 MPH and the average speed of the race was 110MPH - an incredible feat of driving ability and the endurance of factory performance vehicles. This is truly where cars and drivers were tested to an extreme.

Spectators risked their life standing along the straight on the beach as cars flew by them.

Who would have thought that in the last Grand Nationa race ever held there (1958) that a '58 Ford could be a few car short lengths behind the winning'58 Pontiac.
