I'll give it a year, John and then search The Bay.

I have read all of James Ellroy books including his autobiographical works revealing his young life, the unsolved murder of his mother when he was 8. And his relationships with women and his younger years spent as a house invader and panty sniffer in the homes of the well to do who he ascertained were not at home by calling their phone number. Young high school aged James Ellroy lived in an adjacent suburb and in much less salubrious conditions with his larger than life father who told young James that he, rather indelicately, "poured the pork" to Rita Hayworth. Either before or after helping to facilitate the meeting 'tween the Hollywood movie actress and the Agha Khan who she subsequently married.
